Install The Commissioner
Use Add to Slack, choose the intended workspace, review the requested permissions, and approve the installation. Slack returns you to the homepage with an installation notice. An incomplete installation can be retried from the same button.
Invite the bot to the league channel
Create or choose a public channel such as #spider-league and invite @The Commissioner. Installing the app does not automatically seat it in a channel. Private channels and direct-message play are not supported in this version.
Standings belong to the workspace: multiple channels in the same workspace share one league record. Use /standings to inspect the board and /halloffame for past champions. The weekly standings post goes to the league’s most recent submission channel.
Post a find
Upload a clear spider photo as a new message in a public channel the bot has joined. The Commissioner judges the first image in the message and replies in that message’s thread with its identification, danger, rarity, confidence, and points. Photograph from a respectful distance; AI ratings are not medical advice.
If nothing arrives, check that the bot is in the channel and that the post is a new image message, not a reply in an existing thread. If the Office reports a processing failure, try a clear JPEG or PNG. A workspace that reaches its daily adjudication cap must wait until the next UTC day.
Appeal a ruling
Reply appeal in the original find’s thread. Any member may appeal once per find, optionally attaching a better photograph of the same spider to that reply. The Commissioner returns an affirmed, amended, or reversed ruling with its grounds. Corrected points are reflected in the standings.
Keep new evidence in the original thread; an unrelated new spider belongs in a new message. For scoring and season rules, consult the FAQ.
Permissions and admin approval
Some workspaces require an owner or administrator to approve apps. If Slack blocks installation or asks for approval, follow the workspace’s approval process rather than attempting to bypass it. The exact scopes and data flow are listed on the privacy page.
The installer is recorded as the league’s founding commissioner. Appointed deputies can help run it. Officers use /newseason to conclude a season; running it a second time within ten minutes confirms the reset. Workspace-admin status also authorizes certain officer actions, such as striking a find.
Withdraw a find or uninstall
To withdraw your own find, mention @The Commissioner and write withdraw in the find’s thread. The bot removes your matching active entries and their points. An authorized officer can mention the bot with strike to remove entries in that thread.
To stop using the app, remove The Commissioner through your workspace’s Slack app-management controls; an owner or admin may need to do this. When the app receives Slack’s uninstall or token-revocation event, it deletes its installation record. League history is not automatically erased by uninstalling.
Request deletion or contact support
Use the existing publisher contact route at Coast Studio for support or a broader data-deletion request. Include “Spider League,” the workspace name or ID, the affected member or find, and a brief description of the problem. A thread link and approximate time help locate a ruling.
Do not send bot tokens, API keys, passwords, or photos containing sensitive information. A withdrawal is not a complete deletion of season archives, Slack content, provider records, or logs; see what remains on the record. This version has no automated full-deletion endpoint or published response-time guarantee.
The Office’s public contact is the publisher website already linked by this project. A dedicated Spider League support address and deletion-handling timetable have not been published here.
